Innovative NFC Mobile Payment

One of Mobile Engine’s most groundbreaking products is it’s NFC Payment system. The project revolves around the creation of an adhesive sticker which can be stuck on the back of any modern Mobile Phone and is fully equipped with the latest NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. This sticker can be used to make contactless NFC payments at any stores which have the supporting infrastructure to accept such payments. This revolutionary new form of payment could not only completely eradicate the need for using coins to pay for smaller items but also minimise the risk theft and fraud during the payment process.

Mobile Engine’s employees and their partners (with investment from Deutsche Bank) played a pivotal role in 1999 in the development and introduction of the world’s first fully comprehensive mobile payment system under the name of paybox Austria. The German launch commenced in May 2000 at the Frankfurt headquarters of paybox.net, and this was closely followed by the Austrian launch in September 2000 with the aid of Paybox Austria’s Vienna office. In the following year, further European launches took place in Great Britain, Spain and Sweden.
